Project description:
The medieval castle (today chateau) Veselí nad Moravou represents a unique european site with many well-preserved wooden buildings, construction elements, and an unprecedented volume of organic remains. The proper evaluation of the complex multidisciplinary research that was carried out at the site in the years 2008-2010 will bring, apart from a complete historical, archeological and constructional evaluation, the results of a whole spectrum of environmental methods of which the existing methodological foundations were verified and deepened. The evaluation of the housing and inner development of the site will provide a totally unique insight into the constructional form of the bailey without walled (stone) constructions in the 13th and 14th century. The possibility of interconnection of all findings and structures with the dendrodata enables absolute dating that is necessary for the clarification of the dynamic growth of preserved statigraphy. The main outcome of the project will be the monograph "Veselí nad Moravou -- medieval castle in a river floodplain".
