Summary:
Recently, remittance flows are one of the fundamental sources of economic development for a number of economies. Thus they create one of the best quantifiable indicators of the impact of international migration. The main aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze the development and fundamental factors that influence the prices of remittance sending at the global level or the level of the selected national economy. The primary research questions of this work include: (i) What is the evolution of remittance sending prices from a given economy and what are the underlying factors that determine these prices? (ii) Do remittance sending prices affect the amount of remittance sent? (iii) What are the main differences in price developments in sending remittances to selected economies and what factors influence them? In the theoretical part, literary and information sources will be used to process a literary research, which will focus on current trends in remittance flows and the cost of sending them. Furthermore, the question of how and why states try to reduce remittance prices will be discussed.
