The aim of the diploma thesis is to describe the discrete models of population dynamics. The needed advanced theory of difference equations and of matrix algebra will be provided as a part of the thesis. Then, the attention will be paid to models representing the age-structured populations, i.e., the models which are suitable for the populations consisting of groups of individuals given by their age. Such models may be used also for populations classified by other ways than age, e.g., by genotype.
