Title of the thesis:Weeds in the selected grassland
Summary:The aim of this study was to assess the condition of vegetation on extensively used pasture land, covering about 5 ha, situated in the Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic. An extensive literary research was created as a source of information, in particular it was compiled a list of all poisonous plants, which can be found on pasture lands in the Czech Republic. The pasture land was observed in autumn 2012 and spring 2013. To evaluate the occurrence of weeds, a floristic inventory was created. The most widespread herb was Taraxacum sect. Ruderalia, which is suitable for pasture lands. Twenty-three species of poisonous plants were found on the pasture land, appearing rarely or in focuses. The most common poisonous plants were Euphorbia cyparissias, Ranunculus repens, Potentilla anserina, Potentilla reptans and Equisetum arvense. Other important weeds included: Cirsium, Carduus, Rumex and low-quality grasses, e.g. Calamagrostis epigejos. The study mentions measures to reduce the occurence of weeds, such as cutting remainders of the vegetation that hasn't been grazed by animals, dragging and smearing feces, regulation of focuses of weeds mechanically or with herbicides.
