Description in original language:
Winter rape is widespread crop in EU providing common vole with suitable diet supply and the cover from autumn to late spring (6 months). The nineteen year dynamic of the common vole in winter rape show its high densities and suitability of the crop. Analysis of long-term time-series indicate that population density has been consistently at its highest level in permanent crops than in agricultural crop. In addition, the second highest density throughout the entire time-series reached the population in winter rape. Based on cross correlation analysis we revealed significant synchrony in population dynamic between different crop types. Widespread fields (large size) of the winter rape crop significantly stabilized common vole populations compared to winter wheat and barley similarly to the permanent crops. Good food supply for vole in winter rape enables vole to reproduce for longer in the autumn and earlier in spring and to reach higher population densities than in other crops. Diet of the common vole is composed mostly of the green vegetative parts of winter rape. Percentage of the weedy species in the diet reflects its cover in crop. Winter rape, compared to other crops as winter wheat and alfalfa enables common vole more successful overwintering. Impact of the common vole in winter rape correlates with the vole densities. If the rape is in flower and seeds are ripening, this food supply is less attractive and common vole should migrate to neighbouring crops.
