Aims of the course:
The purpose of the subject is to give students basic knowledge in the field of demographic and social statistics and its use in economic decision-making. The use of demographic and statistical methods to study the basic questions in economic and social domain at the regional, national and international levels. To understand demographic and social aspects of development.
 
Course contents:
1.Analysis and modelling the population reproduction and demographic structure (allowance 8/8)
 
a.Quantitative analysis of time and generation series
b.Measurement of population reproduction
c.Statistical methods of demographic data evaluation
d.Modelling the generation relations

2.Analysis and modelling the population allocation and settlement structure (allowance 8/8)
 
a.Quantitative analysis of space series
b.Measurement of spatial distribution
c.Measurement of spatial relations
d.Demographical regionalization an typologization

3.Selected social-demographic factors of social statistics (allowance 4/4)
4.Basic prognoses of the demographic population structure (allowance 8/8)
 
a.Projection of the population development of a region, urban region, town, housing estate
b.Projection of the population development in a rural region
c.Migration
d.Forecast of manpower, forecast of school and pre-school quota, economic active population, number and structure of households,school
and health capacities, population levels and groups

-Ability to identify, describe and analyse social problems
-Ability to make use of demographic prognoses
-Ability to use mathematical tools needed for mathematical modelling of real situations
-Prepare and evaluate proposals for solution to eliminate regional disparities in general context.

Assessment methods:
A credit obtained on the basis of a drawn up project and written test, written and Fulfilment of conditions for credit (obligatory attendance in seminars, project submission and its presentation in seminar group). Written and oral exam. For participation in oral exam, written exam must be fulfilled at least 60%. Total grade results from both parts of the exams.
