Aims of the course:
The aim of the subject is to present the possible search of literature, principles of writing an academic text, ways how to cite used literature and other sources and how to develop the assignment.
 
Course contents:
1.Subject of bachelor's thesis, study of different sources of literature, photographs and body language (allowance 1/0)
 
a.Subject of bachelor's thesis
b.Study of literature: different approaches to the search and the selection of sources of the literature
c.Different literature sources including research papers in impacted journals, books etc.
d.Photographs: archive, ways of references and copy rights
e.The communication with supervisor, co-workers, technicians and other persons

2.Title, the aims, literature review, different citation ways of literature sources (allowance 1/0)
 
a.Title of bachelor's thesis: the improvement of the title during the time
b.The aims of bachelor's thesis: the basic orientation, the extent and the numbers of aims
c.Literature review ("current situation"): the selection of proper strategy, extent and clear content
d.Proper analysis of published data: work with databases, other literature sources, tables, figures, maps etc.
e.Different ways how to cite the literature source

3.Material and methods of bachelor's thesis, photographs, questionnaires (allowance 1/0)
 
a.Methods: how to describe the single steps in methodology, the description of data collection
b.Material: proper description (i.e. historical relicts, historical photographs, maps etc.,)
c.Photographs: types of cameras, conditions under which the pictures were taken, copy rights etc.
d.Interpersonal communication with co-workers, with teachers, with researchers etc. (the ways how personal communications could be cited)
e.Questionnaires: data collection, analysis and presentations

4.Creation of tables, figures and schemes; when is it possible to use chapter with appendixes etc. (allowance 1/0)
 
a.Data analysis: how to create tables, figures, schemes, maps, etc.
b.Statistical methods
c.Results described in the chapter: extent, strategy of tables and figures citations in the text
d.When is the chapter with attached file used: advantages and disadvantages

5.Discussion, conclusions, acknowledgement, list of literature cited in the text and tables, etc. (allowance 1/0)
 
a.Discussion: structure, strategy, extent and practical examples
b.Conclusions: different ways how to conclude the own results, structure, extend, key research issues etc.
c.Acknowledgement: content and extent, who should be acknowledged (co-workers, grant agencies, technicians etc.)
d.Plagiarism, examples from the Czech Republic and European Union, consequences etc.
e.The list of cited literature: extent, ways how to cite the references in the text and in the list, Harvard and Vancouver types of the citing types -- advantages, disadvantages and the applications (examples from the Czech Republic and other countries)

6.Appendixes, abstract, key words, presentation and discussions during the defence (allowance 1/0)
 
a.Appendixes: extent, order, proper use, examples
b.Abstract of bachelor's thesis: the mission, structure, extent, abbreviations etc.
c.Key word: purpose, selection, numbers, strategy of its application, examples
d.Presentation: extent, ways of presentations and examples
e.Discussion and other skills how to defend the bachelors thesis.

 
Learning outcomes and competences:
Generic competences:
 
-Ability to analyse and synthesize

Specific competences:
 
-Ability of deduction, induction.
-Ability to solve problems creatively and with regard to broader perspectives.
-Ability to work with information sources and to propose qualified recommendations.
