Aims of the course:
The goal is to gain knowledge of basic economic and political context of the development of agriculture and forestry sectors as multifunctional mission and directly linked to the use of natural resources in a globalizing environment of agribusiness.Students will learn about general and specific characteristics of the agricultural and forestry sectors and verifies the ability to interpret in economic terms obtained knowledge of the specifics market factors of production especially with regard to the impact of land as a basic factor of production (valuation principles and factors of pricing). They will gain an overview of the key indicators of economic analysis and learn to apply and interpret the specific examples.
Course contents:
1.Theoretical basis, subject, concepts, categories (allowance 6/0)
a.The specifics of agriculture and forestry, economic interpretation in context, productive and non-productive functions
b.Manifestations of globalization in the agricultural sector, forestry-wood complex, agribusiness
c.Global and regional context of agribusiness

2.Markets in agribusiness, types of markets, agencies, reciprocal links, category (allowance 10/0)
a.Markets of products and services, specifics of the demand and supply formation, market equilibrium
b.Factor market, price formation, economic rent and transfer earnings, soil as a basic factor of production, ovaluation of quality, principles and pricing factors
c.Economic differentiation in the primary production businesses (agriculture and forestry) and the role of downstream stages of processing

3.Evaluation of position and performance of the industry (allowance 4/2)
a.Selected performance indicators
b.Information resources for evaluation
c.Analysis and interpretation of performance indicators

4.Evaluation of the performance of the agricultural and of the forest holding (allowance 4/10)
a.Methodological training using coherent model example
b.The selection of indicators, analysis and interpretation
c.Presentation and defense of students' work

Conditions for completion of the course: 1) obtain credit based on min. 75% attendance at lectures and seminars and getting min. 30 points - (up to 20 activity points and 30 points for the preparation and defense studies);
2) written exam (50 points)
