Aims of the course:
The aim of course is to introduce tourism in rural areas (and agritourism as a specific form of rural tourism) as one possible source of financial revenue for those areas and their subsequent development. Another aim is to show the capabilities and specifics of this business sector in the Czech countryside, following the current situation and development in foreign countries (especially in states of the EU).

c.Development and current status in the Czech Republic
d.Development and current state in foreign countries
e.The specifics of business in agritourism

2.Rural tourism (allowance 12/12)
a.Definition of the term, defining the topic
b.Potential of rural territory in terms of rural tourism
c.Development and current status in the Czech Republic and in the foreign countries
d.The specifics of business in rural tourism
e.Position of the rural tourism in strategic documents
f.Funding opportunities

3.Importance of agritourism and rural tourism in rural and regional development (allowance 2/2)
Learning outcomes and competences:

Specific competences:
-Ability to analyze the region’s internal and external environment as to its needs
-Ability to analyze the region’s internal and external environment (rural tourism point of view)
-Ability to determine potential of rural locality for tourism development
-Competences of conceptual solutions of rural development in the frame sustainable tourism development
-Competences of drawing poster as a form of promotion in rural tourism
-Conceptual solutions of regional development issues
-Knowledge of specific of business in rural tourism branch

Assessment methods:
The course is completed by a test that is designed to verify the knowledge gained form lectures and tutorials. It is written exam composed of six open questions (student can be evaluated by 0-6 points for each of them). Condition for successful completion of the subject is to obtaine at least 50% points of the test.
