Aims of the course:
•familiarization with the processing of multidimensional regional data
•understanding the principles of constructing the composite indicator from group indicators and their subsequent evaluation and interpretation
•acquaintance with sources of regional data and their processing
•familiarization with widely used composite indicators (indices)
Course contents:
1.Review of the basic terms and phenomena from the field of regional development, the concepts of state, development, convergence/divergence and disparity from the viewpoint of quantification (allowance 4/0)
2.Statistical methods (mathematical, graphical) for processing multidimensional data (allowance 12/10)
3.Composite indicators, methodical principles of their construction and interpretation (allowance 8/6)
4.Most frequently used composite indicators (indices) - The Czech Republic, Europe, world (allowance 4/0)
5.Students' projects consultation (allowance 0/12)
Learning outcomes and competences:
Generic competences:

Specific competences:
-Assess regional differences and possibilities to influence international inequalities
-Mastering the numerical and graphical presentation of results of analysis of regional data.
-Skills associated with obtaining and processing information about the regions.
-Statistical analysis of regional data.

Assessment methods:
Credit will be granted for completing all the tasks assigned during the course and on the basis of control tests results.
There will also be a final test and a discussion on the topic of students' individual projects.
