Aims of the course:
To familiarize students with different kinds of cultural heritage, creation, mediation, preservation and exploitation of cultural and natural values, with the jurisprudence as a tool of the maintenance of the culture heritage, management and presentation of the cultural heritage, with the historical development of the maintenance of the cultural heritage, foreign approach to the protection of the cultural heritage and its presentation and with the relationship between the culture and the economics.
Course contents:
1.Culture and cultural heritage. (allowance 3/0)
a.Basic terms and approaches.
b.Creation, mediation, preservation and exploitation of the cultural and natural values.

2.Introduction in the history of the European culture. (allowance 3/0)
a.History of art.
b.Excursion into environmental science.
c.Introduction into the folk culture.
d.Theory of perception.

3.Intangible cultural heritage. (allowance 3/0)
a.Annual customs.
b.Unesco intangible cultural heritage.

4.History of the maintenance of the cultural heritage. (allowance 3/0)
a.Origins of the museology.
b.Development of the methodology.

5.Management and presentation of the cultural heritage. (allowance 3/0)
a.Beginning of collecting and documentation of the cultural heritage, origins of the scientific and research institutions and museums.
b.Museums and galleries.

6.Foreign approaches to the protection of the cultural heritage and its presentation. (allowance 3/0)
7.Local and regional culture in the Czech Republic. (allowance 3/0)
a.Cultural space, cultural politics.
b.Examples of marking of sociocultural, ethnographic and cultural regions.
c.Local tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

8.Czech jurisprudence as a tool of the maintenance of the cultural heritage. (allowance 3/0)
a.Categorization of monuments.
b.Organisations and councils for the study and protection of the cultural heritage.

9.Relation between the culture and the economics, projects Culture 2000, Phare, Sapard, IOP, ROP, NAKI, TACR, examples of implementation. (allowance 3/0)
10.Programmes of the Ministry of the Culture of the Czech Republic for the protection of the zones of the cultural heritage preservation. (allowance 3/0)
a.Regeneration of the conservation areas, village conservation areas and landscape conservation areas.
b.Programme of the support for the UNESCO monuments.
c.UNESCO monuments in the Czech Republic.

11.Threat for the cultural and natural heritage, problems of the current maintenance of the cultural heritage and museology. (allowance 3/0)
12.Marketing and management of the cultural heritage. (allowance 3/0)
Learning outcomes and competences:
Generic competences:

Specific competences:
-Ability of orientation in basic legislation standards as a tool of care for cultural heritage.
-Ability of orientation in marketing and management of cultural heritage and their possible use in real life.
-Knowledge of the programmes of the Ministry of Culture protecting the cultural heritage and their implementation.
