Aims of the course:
Aim of the subject is to get students acquainted with two basic areas of crisis management. The first area is risk management as preventive instrument, with use of which it can effectively prevent of crisis origin and crisis development in company. The second area is company's crisis proceeding at the moment of identification and origin of crisis. Within the subject is paid attention to ways of company's decline and other alternatives of its future existence.
Course contents:
1.Fundamental issues of managing crises (allowance 4/2)
a.Managing crises - main terms, crisis management, exceptional event, exceptional situation, critical status, crisis plan, historic context, current bases, principles of crisis management

2.Critical situation and its development (allowance 4/2)
a.Identification of critical situations within a business, indicators of business crises
b.Performance, cost, and result indicators
c.Procedure of analyzing critical situation, stages of crisis development, classification of crises, fundamentals of critical planning
d.Crisis stages, determining crisis extent, critical matrix

3.Internal and external causes of business crises (allowance 4/2)
a.External environment analysis in relation to managing crises
b.Identification of internal causes of crises, field of activity, organizational and management structure, human resources, analysis of business assets and resources, bankruptcy and bonity models

4.Risk analysis (allowance 4/2)
a.Definition, key terms, risk analysis, internal and external sources of risks, ways of measurement
b.Risk management, tools and methods of decreasing business risks and their prevention

5.Crisis communication and human resources management (allowance 4/2)
a.Crisis managers and their skills, crisis staff
b.Critical scenario, crisis and stress
c.issues of optimization of the number of employees for keeping a perspective operation, fundamentals of human resources management in critical periods, setting priorities.

6.Business management in a critical period (allowance 4/2)
a.Crisis planning
b.Issues of business bankruptcy, bankruptcy call and compensation, preparation for selling a business

7.Strategies in crisis management (allowance 4/2)
a.Eliminating the epicentre of crisis, diverting crisis appearance, crisis management, exploitation of crisis
b.Fusions and acquisitions - motives and types of fusions, synergic effect, fusions and acquisitions as a form of business restructuring,
c.Hostile takeover

Assessment methods:
Requirements for finishing:
The subject is finished with exam, which consists of two parts. The aim of first part is to verify by written form the level of acquainted knowledge's from crisis management and risk management. The second part is focused on ability of knowledge's application on practical issues (case studies) coming from economic practice. Student is classified on the base of summary of reached points within seminars and both parts of exam following:

92 to 100 points - "A" (excellent)
84 to 91 points - "B" (very good plus)
76 to 83 points - "C" (very good)
68 to 75 points - "D" (good plus)
60 to 67 points - "E" (good)
Less than 60 points - "F" (failed).
