Aims of the course:
To make the students acquainted with basic problems, concepts and methods of politology and with an analysis of political processes and of political system.
Course contents:
1.Politology as science of politics: history, directions, school (allowance 2/1)
2.The political system, open and closed political systems (allowance 2/1)
3.Presidential, semi-presidential and parliamentary systems (allowance 2/1)
4.Polical parties, organization, hierarchy, role in society (allowance 2/1)
5.Party systems (allowance 2/1)
6.Electoral systems (allowance 2/1)
7.Left-wing ideology and left-wing political parties (allowance 2/1)
8.The right-wing ideology and right-wing political parties (allowance 2/1)
9.Postmodern ideology and party (allowance 2/1)
10.Promoting the interests, lobbying (allowance 2/1)
11.The development of the political system in Czechoslovakia (1918 - 1989) (allowance 2/1)
12.The development of the political system of the Czech Republic (since 1993) (allowance 2/1)
13.International Relations I. (allowance 2/1)
14.International Relations II. (allowance 2/1)
Learning outcomes and competences:

Specific competences:
-Application of elements of the theory of the political system on election, decision-making system and legislative process
-Application of the theory of party systems to individual states, justification, explanation of the formation of the party system
-Applications of political theory and practical methods to events and processes
-Explanation of ideologies in historical paradigm and social processes, applications in Anglo-Saxon world and other democratic states
-Knowledge and application of voting procedures and election clauses
