Aims of the course:
The aim of this course is to describe and analyze the role Europe has playes in world politics and economy in the las 500 years. Attention is given both to the colonial empires and forming of relations with current developing states and to the intra-European issues. Specific attention is given to the process of European integration in the second half of the 20th century. After passing this course the students should be able to understand historical roots of European integration and of the relations of the EU with the rest of the world.

3.Historical development of Europe until the end of 18th century (allowance 0/0)
4.19th century - The concert of Europe (allowance 0/0)
5.World wars and their impact on European role in world politics and economy (allowance 0/0)
6.After-war reconstruction of Europe and the begining of European integration (allowance 0/0)
7.The process of decolonization after WWII (allowance 0/0)
8.Europen integration until the Treaty of Maastricht (allowance 0/0)
9.European integration in the 90s (allowance 0/0)
10.Eastern enlargement and its impact on European integration (allowance 0/0)
11.Lisbon Treaty and the future of European integration (allowance 0/0)
12.Current role of Europe in world politics and economy (allowance 0/0)

Assessment methods:
To successfuly pass the course, the students have to be active during the lessons, to discuss and to write a seminary paper. The final exam will consist of several open questions.
