Aims of the course:
The aim is to get an overview of the productive and nonproductive functions of agriculture. Students will obtain knowledge of soil and climatic factors and plant nutrition. It is important to understand the basics of field crop production and permanent grassland including the possibility of controlled influencing yield and quality of plant products. They will acquire basic knowledge of biotic pests, especially weeds and basic principles of their regulation.
Students will acquire basic knowledge about cattle, pig, sheep, goat and poultry breeding, they acquire skills to evaluate the suitability of their housing. Students will be able to analyze factors affecting production of milk, meat and eggs.

Assessment methods:
compulsory attendance at seminars (min 80%), writing two credit tests at least75% (first one from the crop production and second from the animal production, each with 16 questions), exam is in written form and has two parts - tests ofplant and livestockproduction - 15 questions each, minimumsuccess rate for passing the exam is 75%
