Aims of the course:
The course is focused on basic analysis of public administration in the Czech Republic. In the context of the course, there are defined themes covering the problematics of state administration and self-government decision making bodies, territorial division for public administration's purposes and the phases of decision making process in public administration. One lecture can take place with external lecturer from the public administration institution.

1.Public sector in interaction with the private sector (allowance 2/2)

2.Public administration in the context of state's power (allowance 4/4)
a.Municipality corporations and districts according to the law 128/2000 and the law 129/2000

3.Territorial divison for public administration's purposes (regions as basic instrument for delimitation of public power) (allowance 2/2)
a.Organisational principles in public administration

4.Administrative science and theories of organisation and management (allowance 2/2)
a.Towns and municipalities (classification, decision making bodies, competence)

5.Processes of monitoring and evaluation in public administration (allowance 2/4)
a.Corporate towns

6.Management processes in public administration - attitudes and models (allowance 2/0)
7.Public administration and the system of law I (administration law, competence to issue the statutes) (allowance 2/2)
a.Zoning of the Czech Republic (regions according to scope of public power, microregions, euroregions)

8.Public administration and the system of law II (the principle of legitimity in public administration, influence of international institutions) (allowance 2/2)
a.Regional policy of the Czech Republic

9.The history of public administration in the Czech Republic I (allowance 2/4)
a.The institutions of state administration in the Czech Republic - typology (resorts and central bureaus of state administration)

10.The history of public administration in the Czech Republic II (allowance 2/4)
a.The institutions of state administration in the Czech Republic - typology (subordinated units, institutions with advisory competencies)

11.The public administration's reform in the Czech Republic - municipalities and districts (allowance 4/2)
a.Division of municipality corporations according to the scope of carried-over competency

12.The public administration's reform in the Czech Republic - eGovernment (allowance 2/0)

Assessment methods:
The course is ended by written exam consisting of two continuous tests. Evaluation of the case study is part of the final mark.
