Aims of the course:
Extend knowledge of the parts of mathematics which can be used for description of real word. Introduce the mathematical tools and methods that are frequently used in solving problems in economy, biology and others sciences.
Course contents:
1.Differential calculus (allowance 8/10)
a.Elementary functions of one variable and their graphs
b.Limit and continuity
c.Derivatives, rules for differentiation, higher-order derivatives
d.Local extrema, concavity and inflection points, asymptotes, applications.

2.Integral calculus (allowance 7/6)
a.Techniques of integration
b.The definite integral, fundamental theorem
c.Improper integrals
d.Geometrical applications

3.Polynomial approximation (allowance 4/3)
a.The solution of algebraic equations
b.Taylor polynomial
c.Lagrange interpolation formula
d.Least squares polynomial approximation

4.Linear algebra (allowance 5/5)
b.Matrices and determinants
c.Systems of the linear equations

Learning outcomes and competences:
Generic competences:
-Ability to analyse and synthesize
-Ability to solve problems
-Ability to work independently
-Basic computing skills
-General knowledge

Specific competences:
-Ability of critical evaluation, intelligible and subject reasoning at solving mathematical problems
-Ability to solve basic optimization problems.
-Knowledge of basic mathematical method required for mathematical models creation of real situations.
-Skills of abstract and exact thinking during the study of mathematical concepts and relations.

Assessment methods:
2 written tests will be during the course. Maximum points for each test is 8, so maximal total receive points could be 16. For Credit is necessary to have at least 8 points. Test will be written 7th and 14th week of the semester. Participation on the written tests at aforementioned weeks is compulsory.
The course is finished with written exam. Credit is compulsory for final exam participation. For exam Credit you have to receive minimal 41 points from 3 partial parts written tests (theory,test,example).
