Aim of the course and learning outcomes:
Importance of genetical diversity, its protection and use in plant breeding. Plants reproduction and responsible types of varieties. Breeding of varieties - lines, - hybrids, - populations and - clones. Breeding for resistance to pests and diseases. Maintenance of varieties.Prionciples of seed industry.
 
Course content:
1.Genetical diversity (allowance 4/0)
 
a.
Introduction to breeding and seed industry.
b.
Tradition of plant breeding.
c.
Origin and limitation of genetical diversity, significance, protection and consequences.

2.
Source material, general principles (allowance 6/0)
 
a.
Genes transfer, expression of transgenes, genes farming, problems witn growing and use of transgene variaties. Molecular markers.
b.Crossing, mutagenesis, polyploidisation, biotechnology methods.
c.Strategy of breeding, reproduction of plants, theory of selection, genes effects, heritability, inbreeding, heterosis, response on selection, interaction of genotype with environments, analysis od adaptability of varieties. Variety and its types.
