Aim of the course and learning outcomes:
Definition and content of nature conservation. Ethical principles and motives of nature conservation. Development of nature protection in Europe and the in the world. Biodiversity and its threat. Species extinction and the causes of extinction. Other causes of environmental disruption. Global market. Mining, forestry, agriculture, urbanization. Air, water and soil pollution. Global climate change. Protection of species and populations. Legal protection of species in Europe and related international agreements. Protection of ex situ. International category of protected areas - IUCN. International networks of protected areas. Management plans of protected areas. Non-governmental organizations and associations.
