Aim of the course and learning outcomes:
The aim of the course is to acquire basic skills of working with computer technologies and gaining practical experience in working with software specialized on information, database and operation systems used in agricultural and food-processing practice. The basic theoretical knowledge of hardware, peripherals and operation systems will be expanded by information on the issue of collection, sorting, processing, analysis and presentation of data from the areas of agriculture and food-processing industry by the means of commonly available software including data protection and backup. A considerable part of the course will be dedicated to the issues of publishing, searching, communication, control and transport of data in the network environment (internet, intranet) and their safety (e-commerce, internet banking) and services available in these networks (FTP, WWW, e-mail and other).

Assessment methods:
The requirements for passing the course are at least 75% attendance in the seminars and a successful completion of the final written test. The test will be composed of questions on the topics covered in the lectures and seminars and the students will have 30 minutes to complete the test. The minimal requirement for passing is achieving 80% of the total points attainable.
