Aim of the course and learning outcomes:
Knowledge of trees and shrubs as living organisms, creating especially native forests or man-made outplantings, tree species important from the viewpoint of landscape planing. Identifying important tree species, according to morphological characters and rightly named their by the scientific nomenclature. Knowledge of using the trees.
Course content:
Basic dendrology (allowance 6/6)
The content, scope and role of forest dendrology
Taxonomy of conifers and broadleafs
Ecological relations of trees
Practicals: 1) Morphology of trees and shrubs, 2) Conifers I, 3) Conifers II

Basic fytogeography (allowance 6/6)
Chorology, native renges of trees, migration
Vegetation zones (Boreal and central European forests, mediterranean, subtropical and tropical forests)
Altitudial vegetation belts
Practicals:4)Fagaceae, Oleaceae, Ulmaceae. 5)Betulaceae, Tiliaceae, Aceraceae, Juglandaceae, Tamaricaceae, Eleagnaceae, Magnoliaceae, Vitaceae, Aquifoliaceae, Anacardiaceae, Celastraceae, 6) Salicaceae, Solanaceae, Rutaceae, Ericaceae, Bignoniaceae.

Systematic survey and distribution of coniferous and broadleaved species in various communities of the Czech Republic (Woody vegetation of the CR) (allowance 10/10)
