Aim of the course and learning outcomes:
The aim of the module is to acquaint students with reasons of government interventions in economy and with principles of functioning of public finance in connection with access of candidate countries to European Union (European Monetary Union). Attention is also paid to analyse of public budget system with regards to needful public finance reform in EU and in the Czech Republic (including possibilities of social security and health insurance reform). Part of the course is devoted to basic characteristic of fiscal federalism, fiscal policy and to fulfilment of fiscal convergence criteria.

Assessment methods:
The exam is oral and focuses EXCLUSIVELY on the topics of lectures and literature on public finance. The student randomly draws 2 topics, which are subsequently discussed with the examiner. Examination topics will be entered into the information system in a timely manner and brought to the attention of students.
