Aims of the course:
In this course, students will acquire basic knowledge about those technological processes in the field of casting, moulding and jointing, which are necessary when deciding about maintenance and repairs of machinery and/or application of renovation technologies.

1.Physical metallurgical principles of foundry (allowance 1/0)

2.Construction materials for castings (allowance 2/0)
a.Grey cast iron

c.Tempered cast iron

3.Model equipment, molding materials, molding (allowance 1/0)
a.Durable and endurable forms
b.Sharpener, binder of mold

4.Melal melting (allowance 2/0)
a.Cupola furnaces
b.Induction furnaces

5.Modern casting technology (allowance 1/0)
a.Cleaning of castings
b.Casting utilization in technical practice

6.Physical metallurgical principles of metal forming (allowance 1/0)
a.Basic forming technology

-Ability to assess technical parameters of machines and equipment
-Ability to assess the suitability of the proposed material, corrosion protection
-Ability to assess the suitability of the technology of manufacturing a particular machine component

-Ability to design a technology of production and technology of renovation of machine parts made from specific material (eg, forming)
-Analyze the stress components and application materials.
-General knowledge of material engineering
-Implementing basic metrological operations for providing determinant parms of objective machines and machinery equipment
-Knowledge of applied metrology
-Student knows the basics of the technic drawing

Assessment methods:
Final credit, written and oral examination
For final credit is necessary 80% participation at seminars and participation in excursion in the manufacturing service. During the semester, students take two credit tests with a maximum score of 15 points each. The minimum score for credit is 20 points.
Examination: Presumption for sign in the exam is a final credit from this course. Examination is written and verbal. The written part includes 5 questions. Student must answer at least 75% each. The verbal part of the exam consists of two supplementary questions. The student must demonstrate min. knowledge of 80% of the information that was given in lectures and exercises.
