Aim of the course and learning outcomes:
The goal of the course is select a theme of the master thesis and the supervisor.
The lectures focus on basics of research and academic writing.
Within the course, the assignment of the thesis is created. Student is expected to consult with his supervisor and deliver him the master thesis proposal.
Course content:
Diploma thesis, topic selection and other formal steps, dean's rules for thesis, intent of the thesis (allowance 4/0)
Specification of aim and methods in diploma thesis (allowance 2/0)
3.Referencing in scientific outcomes, citation ethics (allowance 4/0)
Formal layout of diploma thesis (allowance 4/0)

Assessment methods:
When the thesis assignment is officially approved, student receives so called "preliminary completion".
The final credits are assigned by particular thesis supervisors - based on their particular requirements (submitting a literature review, methodology, etc.)

The course can be studied during an internship abroad - in such case, student has to agree with his supervisor on an appropriate way of communication and has to be careful about the deadlines (student signature is required on the assignment before the end of the teaching period of the semester).
