Aim of the course and learning outcomes:
The aim of the seminar is to expand knowledge of issues of wooden buildings involving professional lecturers. Seminars are focused on specific situations in practice about the design, realization, or the assessment of timber structures that can occur. In addition, new market trends, legislation and technical requirements related to wooden structures in the CR and the world are introduced to the students. A discussion of the topic is an integral part of a seminar.
 
Course content:
1.Basic structural systems of buildings and their structural components. (allowance 3/0)

Materials in wooden structures - materials for load-bearing structure, cladding, insulation (allowance 3/0)
4.
Special methods of realizing foundations for timber structures - pilots, ground screws etc. (allowance 3/0)
5.
Hygrothermal assessment of timber structures - condensation, thermal bridges, thermal stability of the room. (allowance 3/0)
6.Structural protection of wooden buildings - examples of practice. (allowance 3/0)
7.
Wooden buildings in floodplains. (allowance 2/0)
8.
Wooden buildings in seismic areas. (allowance 2/0)
9.Multi-storey wooden buildings in the Czech Rep. and World. (allowance 2/0)
10.
Sizing bearing elements in practice - atypical examples from practice, complex spatial systems, usage of software. (allowance 3/0)
11.
Industrial buildings based on wood - historic and modern types. (allowance 3/0)
12.Examples of wooden buildings in the CR according to timeline from task documentation to building approval document. (allowance 3/0)
