Aims of the course:
Obtain knowledges and skills in woody plant protection.
 
Course contents:
1.Concept of stress - Levitt, Selye, avoidance, tolerance, eu/dis-stress, stress responses, disease, injury, Manion concept forest decline, dieback, disposition. Forest condition monitoring - ICP Forests - Forest Focus. Integrated pest management. (allowance 2/0)
2.Monitoring of pests and stressors, control, prognosis, legislature. (allowance 2/0)
3.Cambioxylofagous of conifers - bionomy, ecology, importance. (allowance 2/6)
4.Cambioxylofagous of broad-leaved trees - bionomy, ecology, importance. (allowance 2/3)
5.Insect defoliators and others insect pests - bionomy, ecology, importance. (allowance 2/3)
6.Fungi diseases I. - patogens, decline-dieback, phytosanitary (definitions, legislature...) (allowance 2/3)
7.Fungi diseases II. - broad-leaved trees. (allowance 2/3)
8.Fungi diseases III. - conifers. (allowance 2/6)
9.Others biotic agents - protection. Biocides - legislature, using. Game and rodents damage - protection, legislature. (allowance 2/3)
10.Antropogenic and abiotic injuries - climate (wind, frost, freezing deposit, precipitation, high tempereture...), air pollution, legislature, monitoring, synergy. (allowance 2/0)

Assessment methods:
Examination and credits. Credit consists of entomology and phytopathology practical tests. Examination consists of written test and oral exam.
