Aim of the course and learning outcomes:
This course focuses on the economic analysis of policy issues related to implementation of the concept of sustainable development and environmental protection at the regional (territorial) level. It will be taught by an interdisciplinary manner taking into account the institutional, economic and legal issues related to the allocation of natural resources. The emphasis is on skills to design, implement and evaluate policy measures at the regional level and the integration of environmental considerations into regional policies and strategies.
 
Course content:
1.Sustainable regional development strategy and the role of government in the allocation of natural resources in market economies (allowance 0/2)
2.Evolution of EU environmental policy in an international context (allowance 2/2)
3.
The current environmental policy EU: institutions, goals, principles, strategies (allowance 4/2)
4.
Application of the principles of EU environmental policy and legislation in the CR (allowance 2/4)
5.
Planning and Environmental Management at the level of municipalities (allowance 2/2)
6.
New approaches to environmental management in public administration (allowance 2/2)
7.
Eco-controlling and the use of economic analysis for evaluating the effectiveness of policy implementation strategies for environmental protection measures at the regional level (allowance 6/6)
8.A comprehensive evaluation of the sustainability of regional development and the inclusion of environmental aspects (allowance 6/6)
9.
Communication strategies and environmental marketing (allowance 2/2)

Assessment methods:
Oral examination; a credits are subjected to active participation in seminars and team work, individual preparation for seminars and case studies, paper presentation and short writing assignments, tests.
Two 100 minutes written tests (50% of the total seminar evaluation) during the block (you have to receive minimum 20 points from maxim 40 of the final test to receive credit). You can receive 10 points from public presentation of case study solution, 10 points from the team work on the case study solution, 20 points from lecture and seminar active participation and 10 point from individual seminar work (total 100 points from seminar work - minimum 50 points for credit) The course is finished with oral exam based on the seminar evaluation. Credit is obligatory for final exam participation. For Credit you have to receive minimal points from final written test (20 p.), and minimum 50 % of points from seminar evaluation. Participation on test is compulsory.
Written tests - 2 written tests will be during the course. Maximum points for first partial test are 10, for second final test 40 points so maximal total receive points could be 50. For Credit it is necessary to have at least 20 points from second final test. Test will be written 7th and 11th week of the semester. Participation on the second final written tests at aforementioned week is obligatory.
