Aim of the course and learning outcomes:
The aim of the course is to gain knowledge of the multifunctional role of agriculture and the agricultural sector in the socio-economic development of the region and forms to support its fulfillment in the strategy of agricultural policy in basic agricultural model, in this context, students will be introduced to critical factors, principles and effects of agribusiness markets and their interactions in the horizontal and vertical linkages region, approaches and tools supporting the development of rural economic policy and their specific application in the case of the CAP
Course content:
1.Decisive issues of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (allowance 6/0)
General economic characteristics of agriculture as a sector the specifics of agriculture and its position in the national economy
Approaches to the evaluation of the role of agriculture in the development of society, production and multifunctional concept
Agrarian markets, types of markets, integration processes, basic models, agribusiness

Agricultural policy as part of economic policy - the general principles and context (allowance 4/2)
Theoretical background
Principles and forms of state intervention in the agricultural sector
Economic analysis of basic and decisive forms and instruments of agricultural policy

Agriculture and food industry in the global and regional context (allowance 6/18)
Agriculture and food industry in Europe and in other regions of the world
b.Explanation of the basic indicators for analysis, methodical preparation for seminar projects
Workshops / colloquium focused on the the presentation and defense of seminar projects

The Common Agricultural Policy of the EU, principles, development, reforms (allowance 6/2)
a.Economic context and starting points of the CAP model, principles and combination of tools, evaluation of system efficiency

Assessment methods:
Course credit conditional on a successful presentation and defense of a given case study. The exam consists of written and oral. The result of the written part (test, 50 min, min. 36, max 60 points) form the basis of evaluation (60% of grade), oral exam makes up 40% of the final assessment.
