Aim of the course and learning outcomes:
The Czech Republic is made ​​up of a diverse mosaic of different habitats on which are bound animals according to different environmental conditions. The aim of the course is to clarify these facts and create a comprehensive of zoological picture of our state. The knowledge and skills that students gain by completing the course:the orient in problem of relations habitat-living organism, overview of the habitats of the Czech Republic, the ability to assign them the appropriate range of habitats of animals, assess the suitability of habitat for each species, ability to generate both negative and positive effects of habitat and human activity on the potential range of animals.
Course content:

the EU and the protection of zoocoenoses
ecology in the data
the origin of the animals in the CR

Protected areas in CR and protection of animals (allowance 0/4)
a.methods of organisation of nature protection
legal rules and regulations governing the protection of species, linked to EU regulations

Habitats of the Czech Republic and their zoocoenosis (allowance 24/0)
significant sites of each habitat in the CR
diagnostic and dominant species of invertebrates and vertebrates
conditions for the occurrence of certain species
threat and habitat protection
practical examples

Assessment methods:
Course completion
Course is finished with written exam. Test consists of 60 questions randomly chosen from 600 questions covering the whole issue of the course. Questions are equivalent, for each correct answer student can get a maximum of 2 points. Answers cannot be chosen from predefined options. To pass the test at least 60 points are necessary. Evaluation is done as follows: A -- at least 110 points, B - 101-109, C 91-100, D 75-90, E 60-74. Test takes 30 minutes, students can use their notes or books, and discriminating factor is time.

Exercise completion
Student has to prepare a seminar paper in the range up to 10 A4 pages, Times New Roman 12, line spacing 1. Seminar paper is on the theme Protected area in the neighbourhood of my home town. Work must include description of area, the way of preservation, endangering factors, overview of animal species in the area, own opinion, literature.
