Aims of the course:
In this course, students will learn about the structure of individual functional groups of motor vehicles. Attention is paid to understanding and mastering of general principles of functioning of individual mechanisms and their application in the most frequent types of motor vehicles. Their final knowledge should involve data about individual parts of functional groups (nodes) of motor vehicles, clutches, gear boxes (mechanic and hydrodynamic) etc.
Course contents:
1.Conceptional arrangement of driving mechanisms of transportation motor vehicles (allowance 2/2)
a.Cars a trucks and lorries, trailers.
b.Regulations and standards concerning motor vehicles.

2.Disc clutches (allowance 2/2)
a.Construction and parameters calculation of couplings

3.Multi-disc and centrifugal clutches (allowance 2/2)
4.Hydrodynamic coupling and hydrodynamic torque converter (allowance 2/2)
5.Multiplier of torque (allowance 2/2)
6.Transmissions (allowance 2/2)
a.Classification of transmissions
b.Determining the range of gears - arithmetic and geometric range

7.Step transmissions (allowance 2/2)
a.Shift and locking devices

8.Planetary gears (allowance 2/2)
a.Methods for calculating planetary gear ratios

9.Continuously variable transmissions (allowance 2/2)
a.Differential hydromechanical transmissions
b.Hydrostatic transmissions

10.Automatic transmissions (allowance 2/2)
11.Variator transmission (allowance 2/2)
12.Transmission mechanisms - final drive (allowance 2/2)
a.Differentials, self-locking differentials

13.Drive shafts and cardan joint (allowance 2/2)
14.Final gears (allowance 2/2)

Assessment methods:
Compulsory attendance at exercises. Hand over and defense of protocols assigned during the semester. Final written and oral examination, a total duration 50 min.Written examination, calculation of given examples. To meet the requirements min. 70 points out of 100. Overall rating, the sum of points from written and oral at least 65%.
