Aims of the course:
In this course, students will acquire basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills concerning metallic and non-metallic materials used for manufacturing of machines and equipment for agriculture, food industry and transportation. This knowledge can be used when designing various machines, renewing of machine parts and evaluating quality and reliability of machines and other equipment.

a.Crystalline structure of metals
b.Phase changes of metals and alloys
c.Phase changes of metals and alloys

3.Ferro-alloys (allowance 8/8)
a.Equilibrium diagrams Fe - Fe3C, Fe - C
b.Heat processing of ferro-alloys
d.Cast iron

4.Non-ferrous metals and their alloys (allowance 3/3)
5.Non-metallic materials (allowance 7/5)
a.Plastic, rubbe

Assessment methods:
Credit is awarded after successful completion of two written tests (at least 60% success rate). The test includes a written part (at least 50% success rate), didactic test on the computer (min. 60% success rate) and an oral part, where the student draws two or three questions. It also examines the understanding of the training programs in the field of construction materials.
