Aim of the course and learning outcomes:
The course deals with technical wooden objects, their historical evolution, the possibility of then knowledge, typologies, construction and material.
 
Course content:
1.
Introduction to Technical monuments. Type, scope, status, importance, care of them. Focus on wooden buildings, structures, parts (allowance 0/2)
2.
Survey and documentation of technical monuments (allowance 0/2)
3.The historic building techniques, equipment and tools (jacks, pulleys, cranes, timber, ...). (allowance 0/2)
4.
Wooden hydraulic engineering (winches, ducts, raceways, dams, basins, canals) (allowance 0/2)
5.Transport by water (rafts, boats and ships) (allowance 0/2)
6.Ways to drive the technical equipment (water and wind wheel, treadmills, horse engine) (allowance 0/2)
7.
Transmission equipment and mechanisms (shafts, cog gear ...) (allowance 0/2)
8.
Sawmills and their equipment (frame, band and circular saws, machinery, manufacturing processes) (allowance 0/2)
