Aim of the course and learning outcomes:
Introduction to the methodology of sampling and measurement of samples, learning the work with the dating software, using of tree-ring analysis and their interpretation, information about the latest methods of European dendrochronology. Knowledge of dating historical and recent wood.

Assessment methods:
For successful completion of the course attendance in lessons is required as well as submission of a seminar paper, and passing an electronic credit test at 70%.

The seminar paper will be divided as follows: 1 Title page (title, names of all members of the group, field, date, ...), 2 Aim of the study, 3 Material and methodology (description of a stand, sampling, sample preparation, sample measurement, dating samples), 4 Results (graphs - synchronization of individual tree-ring series, analysis of significant negative pointer years - which years were significantly negative and how many trees responded negatively in these years) - all accompanied with verbal comments, 5 Discussion, 6 Conclusion, 7 References.

The electronic credit test takes 30 minutes. A total of 20 questions in four categories will be generated: 5 questions from the field of subfossil wood; 5 questions from the field of wood anatomy; 5 questions from the field of dendroecology; 5 questions from the field of dendrochronological dating. To successfully pass the test you must achieve at least 70% success rate.
