Aims of the course:
The aim of the course is the familiarization students with the design and assessment of structures forming the roof of objects.
Curriculum is focused on current construction of pitched roofs, the roof structure with the large span, the spatial structure roof and flat roof.
Analysis of the issue of the aspects of design and static, aspects of building physics, especially the technical aspects of heat and humidity, and aspects of fire protection requirements.
 
Course contents:
1.Functional requirements for roof, terminology, structures of roof clading, types of roof constructions. (allowance 1/1)
 
a.Functional requirements for roof, terminology.
b.Pitched and flat roofs and basic structures of roof cladding.
c.Types of roof constructions.

2.The construction of pitched roofs (allowance 3/3)
 
a.The design principles of pitched roofs, providing spatial rigidity roofs.
b.Systems of wooden roofs.
c.The construction of modern wooden roofs.
d.Construction of hipped and half-hipped roofs
e.Dormer windows and skylights.

3.Lattice structures (allowance 2/2)
 
a.Roofs with planar trusses.
b.Spatial trusses.

4.Flat roofs (allowance 3/3)
 
a.Flat roofs, priciples. Single leaf flat roofs
b.Double leaf flat roofs

5.Roof coverings and materials, finishes roofing. Structural details of the roofs. (allowance 1/1)
 
a.Types of roof coverings and materials, finishes roofing.
b.Selected structural details of the roof structures.

6.Building physic, fire protection and static analysis (allowance 4/4)
 
a.Heat protection, moisture problems.
b.Fire protection.
c.The calculation load on the roof structure, static analysis simple roof.

Assessment methods:
Credit and examination.
