Aim of the course and learning outcomes:
Obtaining of knowledge of the raw materials needed to manufacture of veneers, plywoods, particle boards, the various technological operations in the production and the appropriate machinery, the properties of wooden materials, pplications in other sectors.
 
Course content:
1.
Fundamental terms, classification of Veneers, decorative, construction veneers and Plywoods (allowance 2/2)
2.Used Raw materiáles, gluings for Plywoods production (allowance 2/1)
3.
Veneers production, slicer machines -- vertikal, horizontal and rotary machines (allowance 2/1)
4.
Peeling veneers production, loading and centring Gross, veneer reeling and storing systems, veneer dryers, veneers joiting and scarfing (allowance 4/4)
5.
Prepressing and pressing of materials, Cutting and sanding of Plywoods (allowance 2/2)
6.
Project of veneers and plywoods production - calculation of material usage (allowance 2/4)
7.Definitions and basic subdivision of aglomerated materials (allowance 2/2)
8.
Technology of particle board production, desintegration - production of wood chips and particles, drying and sorting of particles, preparation and application of adhesive mixtures, layering of particle mat, pressing of the particleboards (allowance 4/4)
9.
Production of fiber boards, wood and other lignocellulosic materials, production of fibers, chemical additives, formation of fibrous mats in the wet and dry production method, pressing of the fibreboards, MDF and HDF boards (allowance 4/4)
10.
Finishing of the fibreboards, surface treatment (allowance 2/2)
11.Physical and mechnical properties of wooden materials (allowance 2/2)

Assessment methods:
Evaluation of participation in lectures and seminars, submission of a seminar work during the semester -- submission of a project /defence/ presentation.
Written test - 1 written test will be during the course. Maximum points for test is 15. Test will be written 5th of the semester. Participation on the written test is compulsory.
The course is finished with oral exam (50% of the total mark). Participation on test is compulsory.
