Aims of the course:
The course goal is to get student acquainted with logistics of operational processes and their optimization in terms of quality management systems. Students will apply selected mathematical models and logistics methods on specific logistics problems. Students' outcomes comprise of orientation in logistics terminology, logistics manipulation chains and transportation systems connected to material manipulation. Thanks to gained skills the student is able to integrate knowledge, and thus, his/her competences in self-decision making and logistics operations are developed.
Course contents:
1.Definition of logistics, position of logistics in the company management system. (allowance 2/2)
2.Classification of logistics, objects of logistics. (allowance 1/1)
3.Logistic Management - Definitions, Objectives, Basic Principles, Development and Trends of Logistics Management. (allowance 1/1)
4.Logistics Purchasing Control - Definitions, Purchasing Processes. (allowance 1/1)
5.Logistic control of production - definition, logistic processes in production. (allowance 1/1)
6.Just-in-Time Concept, Kanban, Supply Chain Management. (allowance 2/2)
7.Classification of transport material, handling unit, standardization. (allowance 2/2)
8.Functions of the transport system in the logistics system. (allowance 2/2)
9.Criteria for the breakdown of each mode of transport. (allowance 1/1)
10.Logistic chains and logistics networks and information flows in logistics systems. (allowance 2/2)
11.Inventory management - inventory classification, inventory management methods. (allowance 2/2)
12.Packaging - types of packages, technology and binding to handling units. (allowance 2/2)
13.Warehouse management - storage technology and identification. (allowance 2/2)
14.Interconnection of logistics systems and quality management systems. (allowance 3/3)

Assessment methods:
For the award of credit it is required to prepare a case study - 40% rating.
Written test 60 min. can be combined with an oral examination (about 25 min.)
Within the course, there are accomplished several (about 6) short tests for
about 5 minutes, which contribute to the overall rating (15%).
