Aims of the course:
The aim of the course is to give students a basic knowledge about utilization of zootechnic terminology and welfare of animals. Graduates of the course are able to characterize and differentiate the different breeds of livestock, get knowledge about technology and farming techniques, and evaluate use property of farm animal.
Course contents:
1.Basic terminology, general Zootechnics (allowance 2/2)
2.Fertility of animals, basics of reproduction of farm animals (allowance 2/2)
3.Breeding of species (cattle, pigs, sheep and goats, horses
    and poultry)

Learning outcomes and competences:
Generic competences:
-Ability to apply knowledge

-Professional knowledge

Specific competences:
-A capability to apply special terminology from animal breeding
-A capability to apply special terminology from animal breeding
-Knowledge about ethic principles on farm animal breeding
-Knowledge about technologies and techniques of rearing farm animals
-Knowledge of the housing of cattle, sheep and goats
-Obtaining the knowledge of basic breeding technique and technology principles in important kinds of farm animals

Assessment methods:
For Credit you have to receive minimal 80 % participation on exercising, correct writing test during exercising (min. 60 % points).
Examination from subject is writen form (30% of the total mark) and oral form (30% of the total mark).
