Aims of the course:
The aims of ecology is to introduce the students into its methods, its most important terms, relations, phenomenons and paradigms, with special regards to the application of the ecological knowledge. Students will acquire knowledge about the functioning of natural systems and natural processes in the landscape, the processes and phenomena in ecosystems and landscapes can be seen as interrelated.

1.Origin, definition, tasks of ecology, fundamental ecological relations (allowance 4/0)

c.Organism and its environment
d.Abiotic factors, ecological potence and adaptations
e.Ecological factors and their influences

2.Ecological aspects of the distribution of organisms (allowance 2/0)
a.Biogeographic division of the earth surface
b.Development of communities in central Europe in postglacial period

3.Population (allowance 2/0)
a.Characters and functions (abundance, structure, dynamics, migrality)
b.Interspecific relations
c.Trophic relations

4.Community and ecosystem (allowance 4/0)
a.Types, structure, properties
c.Structure of ecosystem
d.Circulations of matters, energy flow
e.Stability and homeostasis
f.Functions of natural and anthropogenous ecosystems
g.Bioms (zonobioms, orobioms, pedobioms)

5.Ecological evaluation, calculation of ecological indices (allowance 0/2)
6.Field practice (allowance 0/6)
7.Defence of the presentation on individual theme (allowance 0/2)
8.Defence of the presentation on individual theme (allowance 0/2)
Learning outcomes and competences:
Generic competences:
-Ability to analyse and synthesize

Specific competences:
-Particular: ability to comprehensively assess the landscape management in terms of its influence on the biodiversity
-Particular: ability to create conceptual designs of measures to slow the loss of biodiversity and its conservation
-Particular: ability to evaluate the ecological importance of individual species and to use them for bioindicative purposes in natural and ecosystems
-Particular: methodical skill of adaptation on teaching of biotechnological and agro-ecological subjects
-Qualification subjective: can integrate interdisciplinary knowledge
-Special: solve environmental problems focused on specific ecological situation
