Aims of the course:
The subject is focused on overview and development of new materials suitable for subsequent processing in an industry and wood engineering. The aim is to provide a knowledge about chemical composition, inner structure and properties of the basic groups of materials. Also a method of material with required properties development will be presented.

1.Importance of materials and technologies in product design (allowance 2/0)
2.Basic groups of materials (allowance 4/2)
3.The structure, properties and utilization of materials (allowance 2/0)
4.Physical base of strength and rigidity of materials (allowance 2/0)
5.Mechanics of materials (allowance 2/0)
6.Material indices -- material selection. Shape coefficients. (allowance 2/1)
7.Natural materials (allowance 2/3)
8.Composites (allowance 6/6)
9.Design of new materials and analysis of the product lifecycle (allowance 2/2)

-Knowledge of the kind of materials, their properties and using
