Aims of the course:
In this course, students will acquire a general overview of vehicles used for movement in different terrains. They will learn about theoretical aspects, functions, construction and operational properties of ATV. The course deals with theoretical principles applied in the field of practical use and development of new ATV and will be able to decide about their selection and use in practice.
 
Course contents:
1.Classification of all terrain vehicles and their operational and ecological properties (allowance 2/2)
2.Construction of ATV chassis (allowance 2/2)
3.Power balance of ATV in terrain (allowance 2/2)
4.Stability of ATV on slopes. Position of gravity centre, distribution of weights (allowance 2/2)
 
a.Climbing ability of ATVs.
b.Static and dynamic stability (longitudinal, transversal and general).

5.Terramechanics driving power, spinning, limit load of soil surface . (allowance 2/2)
6.Pulling and braking properties of ATVs. (allowance 2/2)
7.Pulling characteristics, methods of measuring and evaluation of obtained values (allowance 4/4)
 
a.Computing and experimental pulling characteristics.

8.Standard and shortened pulling tests on a drum dynamomemter (allowance 2/2)
9.Power balance of ATVs, losses and pulling efficiency (allowance 2/2)
10.Caterpillar chassis of ATVs (allowance 2/2)
11.Aggregation and methods of evaluation of output parameters (allowance 2/2)

-Ability to analyze data from tensile tests of off-road vehicles.
-Ability to determine the basic traction properties of all-terrain vehicles
-Ability to orientation in assessment problems of energy and power parameters of off-road vehicles.
-Knowledge of vehicle use in the off-road.

Assessment methods:
Compulsory attendance at exercises. Hand over and defense of protocols assigned during the semester. Final written and oral examination, a total duration 50 min.Written examination, calculation of given examples. To meet the requirements min. 70 points out of 100. Overall rating, the sum of points from written and oral at least 65%.
