Aims of the course:
The aim of the course is to aquaint students with contemporary options and ways of use of flowers in public spaces. Emphasis is putted on the definition of fundamental groups of flowers - annuals, perennials, bulbous plants and tuberous plants and the resulting possibilities of their use, typology of flowerbeds and contemporary trends in the use of flowers.
 
Course contents:
1.Floriculture - definition. Characteristics of the main groups of flowers. (allowance 0/0)
2.Annuals and biennials - characteristics of original habitats, life cycle, distribution, assortment, principles of cultivation and their use. (allowance 0/0)
3.Perennials - characteristics of original habitats, life cycle, distribution, assortment, principles of cultivation and their use. (allowance 0/0)
4.Flowerbed - definition, typology, creation and beds maintenance. (allowance 0/0)
5.Contemporary trends in the use of flowers - optimized mix of perennials, the patches of direct sowing, vertical walls, etc. (allowance 0/0)

Assessment methods:
Exam contains written and oral part. Before the test, it is necessary to obtain the credit, which includes in addition the determination of ten samples of flowers and also hand in three semester tasks, given during the consultation.
