Course objective:
The aim of the education is theoretical and practical knowledge of wood copmposite materials. Knowledge of the use of the wood based materials in the furniture production and in the wood based buildings
 
Course content:
1.Design of Principles of layered materials - materials composition, symmetry, relationship to the physical and mechanical properties. (allowance 2/1)
2.Layered construction materials - waterproofing, construction and special plywood - characterization, characterization, properties and applications. (allowance 2/1)
3.Core layered materials - solid wood panels, boards, three-layer and multi-layer solid wood, CLT. (allowance 2/1)
4.Combined (composite) materials - insulation panels, lightweight materials - characterization, characterization, properties and applications. (allowance 2/1)
5.Structural veneer materials Parallam, Microllam, Intrallam - characterization, description of the production, properties and uses. (allowance 2/1)
6.Laminated solid materials - construction materials BSH, KVH, KLH, beams DUO, TRIO - characterization, characterization, properties and applications. (allowance 2/1)
7.WAFERBOARD boards, OSB, MFP boards, boards EUROPLY - characterization, description of the production, properties and applications. (allowance 2/1)
8.Diffuse boards, MDF and HDF - characterization, description of the production, properties and applications. (allowance 2/1)
9.Gypsum boards - characterization, description of the production, properties and uses. (allowance 2/1)
10.Cement - fiber boards - characterization, description of the production, properties and applications. (allowance 2/1)
11.Project - design wood-based material - mine is the assessment of technological design, technological calculations, etc. (allowance 2/1)
12.Physical and mechanical properties of various types of wood-based products. (allowance 2/1)
13.Thermal and sound-absorbing properties of various types of wood-based materials. (allowance 2/1)

Course completion:
Evaluation of participation in lectures and seminars, submission of a seminar work during the semester, submission of a project /defence/ presentation.
Written test - 1 written test will be during the course. Maximum points for test is 15. Test will be written 5th of the semester. Participation on the written test is compulsory.
The course is finished with oral exam (50% of the total mark). Participation on test is compulsory.
 
Course methods: Lectures by presentations in power-point, the program dimensional mesh and analysis of raw materials, the program will calculate the weighing of the components for production in laboratory requirements
