Aims of the course:
Subject Wood modification (MFD)is concerned on permanent or transient properties changes in the wood with the use external factors. Student can extend his/her knowledges in wood properties modification field with use chemicals, physical and biological agents. On the base of practical examples student is involved in special processes, new laboratory devices and wood modified materials and research activities. Student is practically focused on methods of analysis physical and mechanical properties of modified wood and structural analyse. Student is ready to active participate in research and in qualified description of the processes and of their transformations. He/she is able to active search and to design useful applications for "traditional" and new designed native wood based materials.

4.Wood darkening (allowance 2/2) (allowance 2/2)
5.Compression of the wood (one direction, two directions, iso-static compression) (allowance 2/2) (allowance 2/2)
6.Permanently bendy wood (allowance 2/2) (allowance 2/2)
7.Impregnation of the wood (resin, oil, sacharose) (allowance 2/2) (allowance 2/2)
8.Chemical modification of the wood (allowance 2/2) (allowance 2/2)
9.Thermal modification of the wood in inert atmosphere (water steam, oil, gas, vacuum, uniform, non-uniform modification) (allowance 2/2) (allowance 2/2)
10.Microwave modification of the wood (allowance 2/2) (allowance 2/2)
11.Plasma modification of the wood (allowance 2/2) (allowance 2/2)
12.Biological modification of the wood (allowance 2/2) (allowance 2/2)
13.Forest breeding and genetical modification of the wood properties (allowance 2/2) (allowance 2/2)
