Aims of the course:
Student is able to identify the form of wood degradation on the base of obtained knowledge and determine an effective protection. The next ability is knowledge of elimination of conditions for wood degradation by suitable methods during the production process or later treatment during the use of a final product.

3.Abiotic factors degrading wood (allowance 2/1)
a.Thermal degradation

4.Biotic factors degrading wood - wood deaying fungi (allowance 2/1)
5.Biotic factors degrading wood - factors affecting the growth of wood decaying fungi (allowance 2/1)
6.Biotic factors degrading wood - wood destroying insect (allowance 2/1)
7.Biotic factors degrading wood - factors affecting wood destroying insect development (allowance 2/1)
8.Wood natural durability (allowance 2/1)
9.Physical protection of wood (allowance 2/1)
10.Constructional wood protection (allowance 2/1)
11.Preservation of wood by chemical techniques (allowance 2/1)
12.Wood impregnability and permeability (allowance 2/1)

Assessment methods:
Participation on excursion.
Credit - 80% participation in seminars, 2 writen test during the course (the participation is compulsory, maximum points is 40, for credit is necessary to have at least 21 points), processing of measured data for seminar work and its defence in form of oral presentation. Credit is necessary to do an exam.
The course is finished with e-test.
