Aim of the course and learning outcomes:
The aim is a theoretical and practical preparation of students for the activities of planning and optimization of forest road network, including project preparation and budget. Upon successful completion, the student is eligible to propose accessing the forest including its cost.
Course content:
1.Principles of optimal design and reconstruction of forest road networks in different natural and economic conditions. Decision analysis and its application to select the optimal route of forest roads. Layout of forestry roads, their aesthetic and environmentally-friendly integration into the forest ecosystem, the route in plan, control line and its importance in terrains morphologically . Directional design parameters. The roads parameters in the longitudinal alignment. Vertical alignment routes, technical terms and principles of the proposal. Design elements of communication in cross-section. The spatial arrangement of the roads. To determine the extent of earth work, the longitudinal alignment materials, structures and properties. Project documentation of communications, table of quantities, budget, attachments and equipment. (allowance 1/2)

Assessment methods:
Completion of the course consists of a practical part (50% of the total evaluation) and the theoretical (50% of the total evaluation). The practical part consists of processing the projects of forest road network optimization,forest road layout and road construction design. The teacher evaluates the project and accepts it if the given conditions are met. The theoretical part consists of an oral exam that is focused on the parameters of forest road network, optimization of forest road network and the theoretical methods and procedures of the design documentation. The exam is evaluated on the basis of established knowledge.
