Aim of the course and learning outcomes:
Knowledge of trees and shrubs as living organisms, creating especially native forests or man-made outplantings, tree species important from the viewpoint of forestry. Identifying important tree species, according to morphological characters and rightly named their by the scientific nomenclature. Knowledge of using the trees. For students who have not studied the subject Dendrology in FFWT programme.
Course content:
Forestry Dendrology - content and role. Taxonomy of trees - examples
Vegetation zonation (horizontal, vertical), deciduous forests - the original species composition.
Natural ranges of trees. The variability of the species - intraspecific, geographic, ecological, cultivars of woody plants.
Ecological relationships of trees in forest stands.
Introduction of trees.
A systematic survey and expansion of coniferous tree species in different geographic regions of the globe. Systematics, character, ecology and chorology important coniferous species.
A systematic survey and expansion of broadleafs in different geographic regions of the globe. Systematics, character, ecology and chorology important deciduous tree species .
The influence of anthropogenic activities on the trees. Woody plants for special purposes.
Domestic woods, uncommon and endangered or protected species.
