Course objective:
In this course, students will acquire basic knowledge about those technological processes in the field of casting, moulding and jointing, which are necessary when deciding about maintenance and repairs of machinery and/or application of renovation technologies.

1.Introduction. Physico-metalurgical principles of casting (allowance 0/0)

b.Modelling facilities. Forming materials. Forming
c.Smelting. Casting
d.Modern casting technologies. Cleaning of castings. Use of castings in technical practice

2.Physico-metalurgical principles of metal forming. Basic forming technologies (allowance 0/0)
 
a.Classification of materials. Hot volume forming
b.Cold volume forming. Shearing and metal sheet drawing
c.Application of formend parts in technical practice

3.Jointing dividing. Riveting (allowance 0/0)
4.Physico-metalurgical principles of fusion welding. Flame welding (allowance 0/0)
 
a.Arc welding. Resistance welding
b.Filler materials, welding gases

5.Soldering and adhesive bonding (allowance 0/0)

Key words:
During the semester students write two tests. According to the test results is then determined number of points at the exam.
 
Course completion:
Final credit, written and oral examination
For final credit is necessary 80% participation at seminars and participation in excursion in the manufacturing service. During the semester, students take two credit tests with a maximum score of 15 points each. The minimum score for credit is 20 points.
Examination: Presumption for sign in the exam is a final credit from this course. Examination is written and verbal. The written part includes 5 questions. Student must answer at least 75% each. The verbal part of the exam consists of two supplementary questions. The student must demonstrate min. knowledge of 80% of the information that was given in lectures and exercises.
 
Course methods: Lectures and seminars, practical demonstrations in the workshops, excursions.
Practical examples from metrology and control machine parts.
Metallographic evaluation of cast iron structures.
Examples of metal forming.
Theoretical description fusion welding.
