Aims of the course:
The aim of the course is to make the students acquainted with basic terms of Social psychology and of the research in social sciences as well. The students should be able in the end of the course to read and talk about the famous theories and concepts, methods, paradigms of Social Psychology, realize research and write the research report. The activity of the students and also self-experience training will be emphasized. Theoretical and practical part of each theme is connected in order to the students have an example of usage of the given information in their future professional life. The conversational or working knowledge of English is necessary for this course.
 
Course contents:
1.Introduction to Social Psychology; research in Social Psychology (allowance 0/4)
2.Self-perception, social perception and mistakes of social perception (allowance 0/2)
3.Personality, temperament in social context (allowance 0/2)
4.Verbal and non-verbal communication; social communication and possibilities of its improving (allowance 0/3)
5.Social behavior in groups and teams (allowance 0/3)
6.Stress and coping with stress (allowance 0/3)
7.Types of conflicts and coping with conflicts (allowance 0/3)
8.Interpersonal social behavior (socialization, conformity, group influence, stereotypes, prejudice and racism, aggression, altruism, attraction, gender roles and identities) (allowance 0/2)
9.Attitudes and attitude change (allowance 0/2)
10.Presentation skills (allowance 0/4)

Assessment methods:
Assignment/s and presentations of students' works are required for the credit.
After successful passing of this subject students should be able to present in English, to write research reports, to read professional and scientific texts in English from social psychology and from other social sciences and communicate within these areas as well.
