Emphasis is put above all on growth, shape, ecological and production parameters and on resulting possibilities of use. They should be also able to evaluate the present situation and developmental tendencies of individual plants, groups and stands of woody species with regard to needs of gardening and landscape architecture.
Course content:
1.Woody species important for lanscape design (allowance 0/28)
2.Selected cultivation characteristics of woody species (allowance 8/0)
Epicormic growth and other aspects of regenerative capacity
c.Damage caused by wildlife
d.Summary of characteristics of woody species mentioned in Dendrology I and II being important for their growing in a permanent habitat

3.Negative effects of woody species (allowance 3/0)
Adverse effect on building, utilities and adjacent land
The threat to human health and life (allergenicity, toxicity, brash wood, thorns and spines, flowers and fruits attractive to biting insects)

Introduction and acclimatization of woody species (allowance 2/0)
Reasons and methodology of introduction
Acclimation and its evaluation
Possibilities and limits of application of geographically non-native species in garden and landscape design
