Aim of the course and learning outcomes:
Knowledge to recognize the species composition of forests in Europe, and especcialy in tropical and subtropical forests. Identifying important tree species, according to morphological characters and rightly named their by the scientific nomenclature. Knowledge of using the trees.
Course content:
1.Basic dendrology (allowance 6/6)
Introduction to forest dendrology, living forms of woody plant, species variability
b.Taxonomy of conifers and broadleafs
c.Ecological relationships among trees
practical: 1)Basic tree morphology, 2)Tvigs in winterstaduim (bads). 3) Ginkgoaceae, Taxaceae, taxodiaceae

2.Basic fytogeography (allowance 6/6)
Chorology, native renges of trees, migration
Vegetation zones (Boreal and central European forests)
Altitudial vegetation belts
practical: 4)Excursion to bot. garden, 5)Pinaceae, Cupressaceae. 6)Fagaceae, Oleaceae, Ulmaceae

Woody plant of Europe and the Czech Republic (allowance 6/4)
a.Development of woody species on the territory of the CR in the postglacial period
Introduction of trees
Using of trees, man influence on the trees

Assessment methods:
- submission of a seminar work during the semester
- 3 written tests on the Latin names of species will be during the course. (3 x 25 pictures, maximum points for each test is 100, so maximal total receive points could be 300. To advance the practical knowledge of species is necessary to have at least 200 points . )
Credit - practical knowledge of tree species: determinated 80% species from each group
1. Broadleaves according to herbarium specimens (memorized all kinds of exercises)
2. Conifers - fresh branches (memorized all kinds of exercises)

- final examination (length of about 20/15 minutes, written test (60% of the total mark) / oral 40% . A list of test circuits is available in the Document Server UIS
